Fold softening

PLANATOL has developed the fold softening system OPIMATIC SOFTJET especially for re-moistening of the fold in rotary presses. Re-moistening of frequently overdried LWC offset paper is often a technical necessity. However, it is also an advantage to re-moisten low-grade papers (B-Stoff) and newspapers in the fold, so fold softening means:
Immediate better quality of the printed product, less risk in the further processing, conformal and exact folding, no paper breaking in the fold – also not in the third fold, excellent flatness of folded product, no “round backs”, perfect stacking properties on pallets and in the feeder, better performance of the folder and improved run of the following aggregates, more safety all along the line - especially with regard to the stapling process, noise reduction during the folding process.
